About the Role

OMG is seeking a highly qualified Video Editor II who can independently carry commercial projects through the complete post-production lifecycle – from ingest and organization through final finishing, revisions, export, and client-ready delivery. This is not an entry-level editing position, and it is not limited to assembling short-form content. The right editor combines confident storytelling and visual judgment with strong technical finishing skills across editing, sound, music, color, motion graphics, and basic visual effects. You should be comfortable making decisions, solving problems, working with incomplete direction when necessary, and consistently delivering polished work that serves each client’s brand, audience, objectives, and product.

As a Video Editor II, you will own assigned projects throughout post-production with minimal supervision, identifying the strongest and most efficient way to showcase each project while protecting the client’s vision, factual accuracy, brand standards, delivery requirements, and the high level of creative quality expected from OMG. Editor II represents full operational independence: you are expected to understand the intent of a project, anticipate problems, communicate realistic timelines, execute revisions efficiently, and deliver work that is ready for internal or client approval. A genuine interest in the firearms, tactical, sporting, or outdoor space is critical.

This is an in-person position based out of our office in north Phoenix, Arizona. Please do not apply if you are not able to work in the office five days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently carry assigned projects from media ingest through final client delivery
  • Ingest, organize, label, transcode, and manage footage and project assets using OMG file structures, workflows, backup practices, and SOPs
  • Review briefs, footage, brand information, product details, and creative direction to determine the strongest editorial approach
  • Build rough cuts, refined edits, and final deliverables using purposeful shot selection, visual context, pacing, momentum, energy, music, and sound
  • Translate client goals and audience needs into a clear story while maintaining brand voice and product accuracy
  • Perform color correction and grading using scopes, color-management principles, and appropriate technical standards
  • Execute audio cleanup, sound design, mixing, bus routing, and basic mastering using EQ, compression, limiting, gating, reverb, and related tools
  • Create and integrate motion graphics in Adobe After Effects across different visual styles
  • Complete basic VFX work and integrate supplied CGI, graphics, or compositing elements when required
  • Manage internal and client revisions accurately, efficiently, and without losing alignment with the project’s original objective
  • Complete a detailed quality-control review before submitting work, including picture, sound, spelling, product information, continuity, specifications, and export settings
  • Export, version, upload, organize, and deliver final assets according to platform and client specifications
  • Maintain reliable communication, accurate time projections, deadline visibility, and clear project status across concurrent assignments
  • Research unfamiliar products, companies, individuals, terminology, and claims to avoid misinformation, misrepresentation, or misinterpretation
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recurring pain points, then propose practical improvements
  • Research and test new editing tools, techniques, effects, and styles that can improve OMG’s creative capabilities or production efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Creative, Account Management, and other Post-Production team members

Required Qualifications

  • A professional portfolio or reel demonstrating strong commercial editing, visual storytelling, pacing, sound, color, and finishing. Applications without relevant work samples will not be considered
  • Demonstrated professional experience independently completing client-facing video projects from ingest through final delivery
  • Advanced confidence and proficiency in DaVinci Resolve in a professional post-production environment
  • Proficient understanding of footage resolutions, frame rates, codecs, proxies, color spaces, delivery formats, and media-management workflows
  • Proficient color-correction and grading skills, including confident use of waveform, histogram, vectorscope, and other scopes
  • Strong audio judgment, including the ability to recognize high-quality source material, layer sound effectively, clean dialogue, mix multiple tracks, use buses, and complete basic mastering
  • Working proficiency in Adobe After Effects with the ability to create and adapt motion graphics in multiple styles
  • Familiarity with foundational VFX and compositing tools and techniques
  • Strong visual-language fundamentals: directing viewer attention, creating contrast, building energy through pacing and motion, editing by feel and intent, and connecting ideas through visual association
  • Ability to evaluate work from both the client’s perspective and the target audience’s perspective
  • Proven attention to detail, organization, deadline reliability, and ability to manage multiple projects and revision cycles
  • Ability to receive direct creative feedback constructively and turn it into stronger work
  • Ability to work on-site at OMG’s Phoenix, Arizona facility
  • Comfort working with firearms, tactical, sporting, and outdoor-industry content

What Highly Qualified Looks Like

Strong candidates will show more than software familiarity. Their portfolio and experience will demonstrate:

  • Creative judgment strong enough to find the story, not merely follow a shot list
  • Complete ownership of polished commercial work with limited supervision
  • Taste and restraint in pacing, music, sound design, transitions, motion, and effects
  • Consistent finishing quality across picture, audio, color, graphics, and delivery
  • The ability to diagnose creative or technical obstacles and keep a project moving
  • Accurate estimates, dependable communication, and a record of meeting deadlines
  • Adaptability when creative direction, footage limitations, client priorities, or delivery requirements change
  • Initiative to make sound decisions even when direction is not complete or comprehensive

Preferred Qualifications

  • Approximately four or more years of professional editing experience; exceptional portfolio quality and demonstrated independence may outweigh a specific year count
  • Agency, commercial, branded-content, product, or multi-client post-production experience
  • Experience editing firearms, tactical, outdoor, automotive, powersports, or technically detailed products
  • Deeper motion-design, compositing, VFX, CGI-integration, or advanced color-finishing capability
  • Experience working with high-resolution camera originals, shared storage, proxy workflows, structured review systems, and multiple delivery formats
  • Experience contributing to team standards, onboarding editors, peer review, or workflow improvement

Performance Expectations

  • Own assigned work without requiring continuous creative or technical supervision
  • Meet agreed deadlines and communicate risks early – before they become missed deliveries
  • Give accurate, defensible time projections and update them when scope changes
  • Maintain project organization and adhere consistently to department SOPs
  • Balance attention to detail with the actual timeline, scope, and commercial needs of the project
  • Remain collaborative, responsive, flexible, accountable, and solutions-oriented
  • Continuously improve personal craft, speed, consistency, and contribution to the department

Career Growth

Video Editor II is an experienced individual-contributor role within OMG’s Post-Production career architecture. Editors who consistently demonstrate advanced creative execution, ownership of the most complex or highest-priority work, mentorship, technical authority, workflow leadership, and sustained operational reliability may be considered for progression to Video Editor III / Senior Video Editor. Advancement depends on demonstrated capability, performance, organizational need, and available roles; tenure alone does not guarantee promotion.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 per year. Placement within the range is based on portfolio quality, demonstrated independence, relevant commercial experience, technical range, finishing capability, motion/VFX proficiency, and overall fit for the responsibilities of the role.
Job Type: Full-time, in-office
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • 9 paid holidays per year
  • 3 weeks PTO

Submit the following to [email protected]:
